COURSE OUTLINE

Language

The language of the training will be English (EN).

 

Preparation
Participants will be given a preparatory reading list of pedagogical texts and relevant websites. A needs analysis will be conducted in the form of a questionnaire in which each participant will be asked to explain their motivation for undertaking the course, previous/ current experience in the area and expectations for the course. They will be expected to prepare a 5 minute presentation on their motivation which they will deliver at the training event.

Objectives
Overall objective: provide the teacher/tutor with knowledge, understanding and skills in the application of Development Education (DE) theory and practice in order to enhance delivery of adult basic skills education. This will be achieved through the provision of lectures on DE theory, interactive group workshops using DE adult education methodologies, examples of relevant DE resource materials, sample class plans for classroom implementation, and effective monitoring and evaluation tools.

Methodology
Lectures/ group participation workshops/ skills exchanges between participants/ individual feedback sessions for each participant.

Follow-up
Participants will be encouraged to continue contact and networking amongst each other through email exchanges and course organisers will contact each participant after 6 months to assess levels of implementation of course content and acquired experiences into ongoing adult education activities.

Tralee, located in the southwest of Ireland, is Kerry’s capital town and the base for the county’s Development Education centre, operated by KADE (Kerry Action for Development Education) since 1993.

Attendees must register by Monday, January 16th 2012.

 


COURSE COST

A grant is available under the EU Grundtvig Inservice programme to cover travel & accommodation expenses and fees for this course.


 


REGISTRATION
