KADE Centre

KADE exists to create, through education, an understanding of development issues relating to world poverty. We wish to promote, in particular, the concept that every citizen of Ireland is also a global citizen with a responsibility to support the people of less developed countries to achieve their potential. We seek, as part of this educational task, to spread a greater understanding and support for the measures necessary to achieve the eight Millennium Development Goals set by the U.N. KADE Definition: Learning that very one has a reponsibility to make the world a more equal place.

KADE Activities

KADE runs a variety of educational activities, designed to promote DE as widely as possible in the county, within the constraints of funding limitations. These activities have included projects such as exhibits, conferences, seminars, schools linking, African music sessions, African fabric techniques workshops, DE public speaking events, One World Week events, Latin America Week events, outreach visits to schools and groups, thematic training sessions and other activities during the course of each year. Regular updates on KADE’s activities are provided in our newsletter and an overview of each year’s work is contained in our annual reports.

KADE Newsletter

KADE produces a newsletter, which is circulated to all Kerry schools, KADE members and relevant organisations/general public. KADE operates as a Company Limited by Guarantee without Share Capital; its strategies and plans are developed and monitored by a management Board of Directors. The Centre is managed by a coordinator and has three part-time employees, one community employment worker and one contract employee.

Volunteers

As well as the voluntary Board of Directors, KADE promotes volunteers to get involved in KADE Activities. Volunteers have assisted within the centre and on particular projects. If you are interested in volunteering at KADE please complete this short form.
