Activities are plentiful as we head into another Autumn. Training and activity days are scheduled for the months ahead. Development Education covers economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions to life in our country and abroad. Let’s make good use of the skills and methods available to us to further enrich our lives and the lives of those around us!
We find ourselves ‘springing’ into action this new year as the days grow longer and brighter! There are annual events to mark and celebrate as well as new project work to accomplish. An ethos of inclusion with respect for difference is the theme of many of the events occurring in March in particular. The theme of a day can act as a positive reminder of the need to continue to work to enhance the quality of life.
The holidays are over for many; another school year has begun. Work / training schedules are getting busier again. KADE looks forward to another year of activities and projects. The focus as always is on promoting Development Education, which emphasises the valuable positive impact each person can have in society. We all have a part to play! Campaigns are currently the order of the day in Ireland. This newsletter includes articles on campaigns being run by Irish development organisations on topics that are election issues for them and their many supporters. KADE hopes that you find this dimension to the election of interest and that you take action by raising the issues with your local candidates.
KADE has produced a Millennium Development Goals poster and action notes poster - for use with secondary schools and non-formal education sector. These posters are provided to schools for display and are used in the cluster days and when the DE officer is visiting schools. They can also be used by youth groups and centres, family resource and community centres.
