Visions of Africa 2011: Call for submissions

Image

Deadline for submissions extended until Friday April 22nd 2011

Africa Day is celebrated on the 25th May worldwide. The date commemorates the 1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which, in July 2002, was succeeded by the present African Union, while amalgamating with the African Economic Community (AEC). The aim of Africa Day is to challenge perceptions of Africa and promote a more comprehensive understanding of the diverse culture that springs from this vast continent; the emphasis is on celebrating the positive.

This is the fourth, consecutive year that KADE and ClubHeadBangBang will host the Visions of Africa exhibition. We hope to attract a large number of entries from a wide variety of sources, particularly from African photographers. We are seeking striking photographs that portray a positive image of Africa. Entries will be appraised by a team of judges from Africa and Ireland and the top thirty images will be displayed as Visions of Africa 2011. All successful entrants (i.e. those whose images make the top 30) will receive a printed, mounted copy of their photograph.

Entry requirements

- A maximum of five images per applicant may be submitted.

- Photographs may be submitted in digital format only, and emailed to staff@kade.ie or submitted on CD-ROM to: KADE, 11 Denny St, Tralee, Co. Kerry.

- Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday April 22nd 2011
