From Nepal: Alan Burns reports

ITT student Alan Burns is in Nepal with just-one and The Omprakash Foundation. We've been following his blog:

One confusing aspect of culture here is the Nepali nod. Its a shake of the head from side to side that is used like our up and down affirmative nod. It can get very confusing still even now. So when I shake my head at some conspicuous dealer or rickshaw driver he springs into action thinking he has a customer!

At work I have done most of the renovating and have moved onto some interesting multimedia work. I have completed a colorful four page pdf newsletter for the Irish schools, which Ill be able to print properly and distribute when I get back. Also now after I leave, the team can update the newsletter for future publications and email them to Irish schools back home. It was allot of fun to make but we are still waiting on a some content from a few different people before we reach the distribution stage.

Declan travels back to Ireland around once a year to visit Irish schools around the country and usually shows them an educational video of the work just-one does (Ive tried uploading them but its proving difficult with the poor internet here). Some of the video would include stories and interviews of kids that have already been helped by just-one, so to show the Irish schools the progress of these kids a new video needs to be made, which is where I come in.

It will probably take until next week before we get equipment and can start filming, but I cant wait! Its going to be great experience for me and it’ll be nice to know that its a really useful and sustainable project. I really appreciate the vote of confidence Declan has showed in letting me make it.
