
KADE will host an upcoming Cluster Day at The Education Centre, Tralee on Friday October 22nd. Students will examine fair trade, the UN Millennium Development Goals and intercultural issues.
Irish Aid , the Government’s overseas aid programme, is hosting a multimedia exhibition, Khulungira: Harvesting Hope in an African Village, at this year’s National Ploughing Championships which take place in Athy, Co. Kildare from September 21st to 23rd. The exhibition, which features videos, slideshows and photographs, introduces the people of Khulungira village in Malawi who have benefited from advances in agricultural research.
The Government should deliver on its aid promises to the world’s poorest to maintain its international reputation, according to a recent opinion poll by Ipsos MRBI. The survey, which was commissioned by Dóchas - the umbrella group of Irish development NGOs - found that 81 per cent of respondents agreed it was important for Ireland’s reputation that the Government delivered on its aid promises of spending 0.7 per cent of national income on overseas aid by 2015 at the latest.
Castleisland Mayor Cllr. Bobby O'Connell has launched the Castleisland exhibition of the 2010 Visions of Africa. This annual exhibition features 30 striking images which portray a positive image of Africa. The exhibition runs at Castleisland LIbrary from June 8th - 22nd. The Tralee exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr. Terry O’ Brien.
